Lyttelton. July 2008. Ajr Like so many of New Zealand's small town post offices, this big beauty from Lyttelton's heydey is now defunct.....as an operating Post Office that is. It's gone through many guises since it closed down as the local post office, most memorably as a couple of jolly good restaurants. The original Post & Telegraph Office (in this building) was built in 1876 and featured a very large clock tower on top. I wonder whatever happened to that?
