Exploring Rural Victoria

Piper Street, Kyneton, Victoria, Australia. Nov. 2008. Ajr
I spent Sunday morning wandering up, down and around historic Piper Street in Kyneton (pop.app 4,000), north of Woodend. It has a wealth of terrific old colonial buildings, which, etched against the brilliant blue skies, made for some great photographs. The top and bottom shots show clusters of shops. The central image is the old Steam Mill Bakery. The whole of Piper Street has become home to trendy gift stores, restaurants, cafes, art and antique dealers – all of them colonizing the old buildings to create one very interesting shopping destination. And every second Saturday, there’s a Farmer’s Market in the St Paul’s Church Park right in the centre of things.
