Lambton Quay, Wellington A typical meshing of horizontal and vertical lines in Wellington's tightly packed central business district - a place where highrise closes out most of the skyline.

One of the many street sights in Christchurch that I'm now very grateful I've photographed - for so much has toppled asfter the September 4, 2010 and the February 22,2011 earthquakes - not to mention the rampant inner city demolitions that have followed. I took this shot on New Year's Eve 2009, in Manchester Street.

Loved this wall of posters on the side wall on a Grey Lynn Deli in Auckland.

In 50 years time, posters like these will probably be collectible - small windows into the social fabric and fashions of earlier times. Sirely I can't be the only person who feels compelled to record them?

There's always something happening in Christchurch's Hagley Park.

I visit regularly and I'm always surprised by something new.

This bright, inflatible clown propped against one of the giant pines was no exception.

Like most cities, Auckland is ever-changing. Many of its old buildings have been demolished to make way for the new. This is one old beauty that I always smile at - just off Karangahape Road.

Few things get my (photographic) attention faster than a mass of words and graphics and you can always rely on a busy New Zealand dairy to deliver a crazy visual mix. I photographed this one in Christchurch. It's from my ever-expanding series on NZ dairies.

I was very drawn to this Auckland shop window - for all sorts of reasons - the graphics, the retro furniture, the colours, the mix of forms and colours. I can't remember which suburb Zeitgeist was in - Grey Lynn I think - but if you're in Auckland and have an interest in retro furniture and household accessories, it's a must-visit.

I photographed this architect's office in Ponsonby in Auckland.

I liked the way they'd beaten the random graffiti artists to the job, covering one side of their building with some eye-catching 'street art' of their own.

The morning after. I'm always intrigued by the number of empty bottles left quite strategically placed around the city after weekend drinking sessions at city bars. It's almost as if the drunks need to balance a bottle somewhere precarious to prove to themselves that they're quite (erroneously) sober.

I'm a sucker for graphics and typography so the Wellington buses always get my attention. Buses anywhere for that matter. I particularly like the vibrant yellow GO on these, flashing through the capital streets.

I loved the forms, movement and colours in the Britomart Railway Station in Auckland and busily set about photographing them - until I was stopped by a security guard. I guess he thought I was a terrorist or something.

This Asian girl was posing for her friend - outside the Lion Breweries in Christchurch. I took the opportunity to photograph her as well.

I snapped this line full of Polynesian prints in the Auckland suburb of Kingsland - on the verandah of an old villa just a few feet form the footpath. It just seemed to encapsulate some very nostalgic memories of 1960s Auckland.
