Where Hills Look Like Teddy Bear Bottoms

Lindis Pass, South Island. 2007. Ajr
This is the Lindis Pass – a spectacular road pass in the central South Island that links the MacKenzie Basin with Central Otago. Characterised by brown hills that remind me of teddy bears’ bottoms, the landscape here is always dramatic – hot, brown and dry in summer with impossibly blue skies; and cold, harsh and snow-covered in winter. It’s one of my favourite stretches of road.
