High and Mighty

Melbourne Docklands. Nov. 2008. Ajr
Today was all about the Melbourne Docklands and the amazing art and architecture you find there. It's a couple of years since I've taken a good look around down the Docklands area, so I was amazed by the amount of development that has occurred. Neither this sculpture nor the building behind it had a name that I could find, although the YMCA was housed in the latter. That didn't stop me from photographing both from all angles in the early morning light. In combination with the highrise, the steel sculpture in its entirety took on a very War of the Worlds feel. The Docklands is probably the fastest growing area of inner city Melbourne and with its huge numbers of apartment blocks, offices, shopping centres, cafes, restaurants, marinas and the Urban Art Journey, which features at least 25 major public artworks, it's a great place to spend a day. www.docklands.com www.docklandsmelbourne.com.au
